Aimee was born with dentinogenesis imperfecta, a condition passed down to her and three of her seven siblings. This condition causes teeth to be discolored, translucent, and weaker than normal, leading to breakage and loss. Embarrassed by the look of her imperfect teeth, Aimee shied away from talking about her condition. People would make negative comments to her, and the solutions dentists offered were only temporary.
