I just got the Fender The Pinwheel rotary speaker emulator pedal this week and wanted to test it with an organ or a synth. Unfortunately no organs close by so I decided to use my Roland FA-07 synth which also features a tonewheel engine and rotary effects. The sound I'm using is a pretty heavy organs sounds, 70s and purpleish, which I made for use, when I want to play rock organ, but does not bother to carry yet another keyboard with me for that pleasure. I'm comparing the FA-07's internal leslie and drive effects with that of The Pinwheel, starting with the pedal off and playing the same riffs using the pedal's 3 different simulations (Leslie 122, Leslie 134 and Fender's Vibratone). Also throwing in a bonus test using a saw lead sound in the end.
I'm just improvising with different rock riffs. Since the pedal sound is pretty different from the synth's own sound and effect, it would be optimal to do some more adjustments to the sounds you are gonna play with through the pedal. Anyway, hopefully I will be able to test with one of my organs soon, but until then, enjoy!
