What to do after your k1 fiance visa application gets approved?
Disclaimer:
I’m not an immigration attorney. I’m just a petitioner.
Pepare these documents to save yourself time.
1) PASSPORT:
Make sure that your beneficiary’s passport is VALID for at least 1 year.
2) NOA 1 & NOA 2 Letters:
I believe photocopies for both the NOA1 & NOA2 are fine, people online said it worked for them.
3)PETITIONER’S (US CITIZEN) TAX TRANSCRIPTS, W2’S, 1099’s, Paystubs:
Gather every document that states how much you make or made.
4)2X2 Photographs:
Get extra copies.
5)Birth Certificates, Divorce or Death Certificates of previous spouses (if applicable):
These have to be original.
6)Evidence of Relationship:
Gather your photos, chat/video logs, remittances, and etc.
7)Form I-134
This form can be prepared at any time.
USCIS TO NVC PHASE:
The service center handling your petition will forward your petition to the NVC. No further action is required in this phase. Once NVC receives your petition from USCIS, they will send you a k1- FTP letter. Check your email inboxes and spam folder as well.
The letter contains your unique case number. You may use your NVC case number to track the status of your case right here at this link, ceac.state.gov
Your status will either state: at NVC, In transit, or Case Ready.
Quick Disclaimer: If you haven't heard anything from NVC within 4 weeks, you may send them an inquiry at nvcinquiry@state.gov
FILLING OUT YOUR DS-160 FORM PHASE:
Upon checking your status, if it says “In transit” or “Case ready”, you may start filling out the DS-160 form.
You have 30 days to complete your DS-160. Please double-check everything before you submit. Each beneficiary will need their very own DS-160 Form. Print the confirmation code after filling out the DS-160 Form.
PAY YOUR VISA FEE:
Go to USTRAVELDOCS.COM and pay your visa fee. Different embassies in different countries have different ways to pay the visa fee. Please do your research regarding how to pay your visa fee. The website will give you a set of instructions on how to do so. After paying for your visa fee, please keep your receipt secure.
Luckily for my Philippine Applicant viewers, in this video, I showed you how to pay your visa fee.
SCHEDULE BOTH YOUR MEDICAL AND EMBASSY INTERVIEW:
You don't have to wait for your embassy letter to proceed. Once you have your case number, which we obtained from the k1 FTP letter, you can proceed to do almost everything.
GATHER YOUR MEDICAL AND EMBASSY REQUIREMENTS:
Each country has slightly different requirements for both the Medical and US Embassy interview. So please do your own research.
