Mo Lee kai-yin was injured during a MIRROR concert on Thursday night was in surgery overnight treating a spinal cord injury and has to undergo another 8-hour surgery on Friday afternoon. It is understood he may be paralyzed from his neck down in the worst-case scenario.
The accident happened during a performance by local boy band Mirror. In footage from the concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, a giant video screen crashed down onto the stage and hit the dancer, edge-down, apparently striking his neck.
Sources said the dancer, Mo Lee Kai-yin, suffered from cerebral hemorrhage and burst fracture at his fourth cervical vertebrae. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday night and was in serious condition.
MakerVille's CEO, Lo Ting-fai, visited the injured dancers at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the early hours of Friday.
He said Lee was conscious and able to communicate with doctors.
He also bowed in apology and promised the company would carry out a thorough investigation.
"We're handling the incident seriously. We promise to find out the cause. We're most concerned about the two injured dancers and their families. We will keep in touch with them and offer all necessary assistance," he said.
The surgery this afternoon is expected to complete tonight.
Meanwhile, chief executive John Lee Ka-chiu said health authorities are arranging for Lee’s parents - who are flying back to Hong Kong from Canada after learning about the accident - to visit their son at the hospital directly after they landed.
He stressed that authorities will spare no effort in providing whatever assistance they require.
