Adding music to your podcast can take your production quality to the next level, but not all music is safe to use. Let's take a look at my two favorite sources for royalty free music: Artlist and Epidemic Sound. I use both services, and while they each allow for podcast use, this video explains some of the differences in their licensing that might help you make a decision.

Benefits of Artlist:
•Flexible licensing that allows for almost any use, including podcasting
•Perpetual licensing, you can use songs download while your subscription was active, even if you cancel (but you can't download new music without an active subscription)

Cons of Artlist:
•Must pay annual subscription all at once
•Music library can be somewhat limited in styles

Benefits of Epidemic:
•Massive library of music and sound effects. Seriously, it's ridiculously huge.
•Wide variety of genres and styles (they even have a Ska section!)
•Monthly subscription available with no commitment
•Ability to download stems for each song

Cons of Epidemic:
•While licensing does allow for podcasts, it is tied directly to you and your accounts. You may need a more expensive plan if you're creating client work for others.
•You can't continue to use music if you cancel your subscription (but everything you published with an active subscription is safe).
•This service is very popular, meaning you might start to hear your songs in other places.
