In line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Asia-Pacific countries are striving to make international trade procedures more efficient and inclusive. Cross-border trade digitalization will not only boost trade competitiveness, but also address rising new challenges associated with e-commerce and the digital economy. The 2016 adoption of the Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific paves the way for the region to further accelerate progress in this area. It brings significant benefits to the region and complements the full digital implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation agreement.
