The New Crew Stadium, home of the 2020 MLS Cup Champions, is scheduled to open in July 2021. It will seat 20,000 spectators with an innovative design that promises an intimate seating bowl experience with close proximity to the pitch. The soccer-specific stadium located in Astor Park which is a reference to Hotel Astor in New York where Thomas Cahill started the U.S. Soccer Federation in 1913. The first U.S. professional soccer league, called the American Soccer League, began in earnest at Hotel Astor in 1921.
Astor Park will encompass the new $313.9 million downtown stadium and a residential and commercial complex development just west of the stadium and east of the Olentangy River. The Crew plan to call the stadium — until there’s a stadium sponsor — new Crew Stadium at Astor Park.
This 4K footage was captured on a DJI Mavic Air 2 drone during May 2021 and documents the construction of the new stadium.
