SE-124 Runs Again! In the late 60's and early 70's steam was considered as a substitute to the internal combustion engine due to its low burner emissions. SE-124 was one of two steam cars built for General Motors testing in the late 1960's. The other car (SE-101) was built by GM Research and SE-124 was assembled by the Besler Corporation, successor to Doble Steam Motors. The car has not run in at least 45 years but the engine was still free and she turned over just fine on steam from the shop boiler. Owner Tom Kimmel was thrilled. Thanks to Jamison Young for the video!
