Gene Zesch is an American Wood Carver or also known as a Caricaturist who makes folk art pieces reflecting ranch life. Born in 1932, Gene grew up on a Texas ranch and began wood carving in the 1950's. His works grew in popularity in the 1960's as famous buyers to include former president Lyndon Johnson began buying and collecting his art.

This piece is titled "This Ranch Has Made Me What I Am" Wood Sculpture. The intricacies and detail on each piece of fence and of the character himself are humorous, which is what folk art is all about.
