Time
In the last days, it became once again important to me how we use our time. So today I want to share a few thoughts on time. I am going to read from
Ephesians 5:15-16
See therefore how ye walk carefully, not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Time is the most precious thing we have as human beings on this earth. Every second we spent is gone forever. You can’t get time back and this makes it so precious. We all know that every person has only a limited time here on earth, but we don’t know how long our time is.
The only one who knows our time is God. David knew that and said in Ps 31:15 „My times are in thy hand“! We never know when our time is gone and this is the reason why we should use our time wisely and why we should redeem the time. That means to see and use every opportunity we have. Not for us or our own pleasure but for the Lords And the Father’s glory!
For what are we using the time we have? Do we use it for Gods interest or for our own interests? Are we asking the Lord how we can serve him with our time every day? How much time do we spent in prayer or serving the Lord and how much time do we spend with things that aren’t important or that have no value for eternity? Oh many opportunities to serve the Lord have passed by without using them for HIM and we never know if HE will give us another opportunity….
Is it not often the case, that we are setting our priorities wrong? How often are we saying „I don’t have the time for this or that“ but that’s just an excuse. Or we procrastinating things and laziness is creeping in. We need to examine ourselves if we are really redeeming our time!? Oh May the Lord help us to use the limited time we have for HIM and HIS glory!
This video I want to close with the famous poem about the clock of life from Robert H. Smith:
“The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour.
To lose one's wealth is sad indeed,
To lose one's health is more,
To lose one's soul is such a loss
That no man can restore.
The present only is our own,
So live, love, toil with a will,
Place no faith in "Tomorrow,"
For the Clock may then be still.”
