El Noi de la Mare is a traditional Catalan Christmas song, arranged and adapted to the classical guitar by the famous guitar virtuoso Miguel Llobet. This work belongs to his set of traditional Catalan folksongs, entitled "12 Canciones populares catalanas". The work was made famous outside of Spain as an encore performed by Spanish guitarist Andres Segovia.
This recording was made with my new home recording set-up, which features two Aston laser Starlight condenser microphones and a Soundcraft mixing board/interface. I owe a lot to my friend Drew Henderson, with whom I've recorded over twenty videos and two albums; Drew is the most knowledgeable sound engineer I've ever met and a world-class guitarist. He has inspired me to learn the art of sound recording during this difficult time for artists in quarantine.
