Since we are all kind of stuck inside right now, social distancing and self isolating and staying in quarantine and all that, I wanted to do something different to break us out of our monotony. So for todays acrylic painting tutorial, I decided to recreate Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh! As you might have noticed, his impressionist style is a lot different than my normal style of realism, but I wanted to change it up! Break out of my comfort zone! Try a painting thats relaxed and fun and iconic. Doing studies, or master copies, is an incredible way to build your skill as an artist. You learn so much from recreating paintings that some of the greats have made.
This painting tutorial leans a little further from beginner and more towards intermediate, but you should totally still try this if you are a beginner painter! Take a leap of faith! Jump in with your paints and take your time and just enjoy the ride.
You can also absolutely still achieve this painting in oils as well! Any medium really. and on any surface. I happen to be painting in my sketchbook but you can paint on a canvas or wood or a wall or whatever you want! Try something new maybe.
I hope you enjoy this tutorial on learning how to paint The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh!
