Recording on-location or just too cheap to buy a pop filter? Here's the good stuff: You can record without a pop filter.
That said, I do recommend having a pop filter when recording with anything that involves vocals or voice. Pop filters aren't expensive - you could buy a cheap gooseneck pop filter with cloth mesh for as low as $10, or opt for one made with a metal mesh, which claims to be able to retain more brightness in your recording.
