We take a look at these RADTEL RT470X radios fresh out of China, we look at the features, Then the config menu settings, followed by a test of the receiver & transmitter performance on the Marconi radio tester, we then take a detailed look at Harmonic analysis of the transmitter & i show how to setup a spectrum analyser with external power attenuator & how to measure the amplitude of harmonics & their relevance in type approval & interference to essential communications services if not properly attenuated & designed out. We also test the encryption feature testing the Scrambler 1 & 2 modes which appear to be speech inversion, Torch, Broadcast radio, Scanning, Air Band, & the radio is capable of receiving 70Mhz 4meter ham band too RX. Boasting a wide frequency range tri band its unfortunate we find a serious issue with the TX harmonics at VHF which makes the radio susceptible to cause interference to other radio users & should not be used to transmit on VHF. However UHF is workable without causing any interference to others & exhibits good specification. We take the radio apart & look at the PCB & circuits then We Finnish the video with a look at type approval, & specifications of other radios as an example of good practice & the effects of buying none approved products & its consequences.
