During 2016 NYCxDesign Foscarini is hosting “Reality or Illusion" a scale and perspective-bending installation at the brand’s Soho showroom, designed by Ferruccio Laviani. Simultaneously, a video crew poses the question “What is real and what is not?” to passersby in various parts of New York. Offered in an open way, this simple question is meant to elicit a range of individual reactions in a 15-second video answer, capturing ironic, hilarious, philosophical, dramatic or surreal ways people articulate answers to this essential question.
New York City, perhaps more than any other city, embodies hope, possibility and, at times, illusion for people, while also offering a large amount of opportunities to transform them into reality. Perceptions of reality or illusion changes based on the energy the city exudes and the support of those living in it.
