Uber Confusing Their Drivers Around Whether They Cary Pets: This is definitely one of those watch till the end videos. I routinely film when I book Ubers these days as I can do it from my phone and it just looks like I’m doing somethng else.
This driver pulls up but, continues down the road a bit and then stops which raise my suspicion that he might not want to carry Pyrgo and I. I was right, he initially didn’t.
As you watch this footage, you’ll see my many attempts to explain to the driver that my Guide Dog isn’t a pet so, even though he’d elected not to carry pets as part of Ubers new UberPet service, he still legally had to carry Guide Dogs.
I’m really glad I won the day and he ended up taking us with what I felt were totally sincere apologies all through the journey.
In spite of him saying ghe was scared of dogs, he stroked Pyrgo and we shook hands. He even asked if he could take a picture of us so that he’d remember what a Guide Dog looks like etc.
I believe this was a misunderstanding and given the penny drop moment you clearly see and hear in this footage, I have no intention of reporting him for anything.
This though is the 2nd time in a week that I’ve had a driver say they’d specifically said they didn’t want to take pets but, then appear confuse when they’ve been sent to pick up a passenger with a guide dog which of course, they are expected to do because its against the law not to so do.
I’ll be sending this to Guide Dogs and Uber but, what do you all think.
