Just like everyone else across the country, lawmakers on Capitol Hill are enjoying the holiday break as the country celebrates the passage of the Declaration of Independence. Senator Tommy Tuberville says, "I'll be home with the family. I'll tell you I think that it's important. I think people dismiss that as just more of a holiday where people can go to the beach or the swimming pool or cookout or whatever. They need to really remember we're almost at 248 years of the birthday of this country which is huge. 248 years this year for a democracy or a constitutional republic has never made it that long." Representative Mark Alford says, "We are a nation, a great nation under the protection of God almighty, and He has His hand over us and whether you're Catholic or Protestant, we all share the deep faith that Jesus Christ is King and when I celebrate the Fourth of July, I celebrate the independence from a tyrannical government." Congressman Darren Soto says it's important to remember the work of Catholics in founding this great nation. Others agree and say it's a time for family. Capitol Hill Correspondent Erik Rosales reports.
