Minni Minni presents 'Perspectives', a series that seeks to explore Carnatic compositions from various different points of view. This season 01 celebrates the great composer Tyagaraja. In this first episode we feature Bharatanatyam dancer Kavya Ganesh, presenting Sri Rama Jaya Rama in Raga Yadukulakambhoji. The music has been rendered by Anugrah Lakshmanan and Aduthurai Guruprasadh.
About the artists:
Kavya Ganesh is a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer and a disciple of Smt. @ramavaidyanathan . At any point in the day she is most likely either dancing, watching dance or thinking dance. She is the Monica of the friend group and an unapologetic foodie with an enormous appetite. Nothing cheers her up like travelling and being outdoors in nature. Oh and her latest obsession is playing 8-ball pool so if you’re by chance heading to play you know who to hit up!

Anugrah Lakshmanan is a Carnatic musician, Origami craftsman, and trekking enthusiast rolled into one. He is a disciple of Smt Jayashree Aravind in both Carnatic vocal as well as Veena. He has had his education at Isha Samskriti, an alternate education system envisioned by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. He is also training with Sri TM Krishna and Savita Narasimhan. Apart from music, he can live on a staple diet of dosas provided there is molaga podi to go with it. He loves going places with friends, but if he decides that he's had enough of socialising, he's likely to run either into a jungle, or up a mountain.

In Carnatic music Tyagaraja is revered as one of the Carnatic music trinity, along with Muthuswami Dikshitar and Syama Sastry. Tyagaraja kritis, also known as Thyagaraja songs are very commonly sung in concerts. Although Tyagaraja has composed on various deities, Tyagaraja songs on rama, or Thyagaraja songs on rama are most common as Rama was Thyagaraja's Ishta devata. There are easy Tyagaraja kritis on Rama, simple Tyagaraja kritis, as well as rare Tyagaraja kritis. He has also composed the magnificent Tyagaraja pancharatnas, also called Tyagaraja pancharatna kritis. When you look at Thyagaraja songs lyrics, also called Tyagaraja kritis lyrics, and Tyagaraja kritis meaning, you get an idea of Tyagaraja's bhakti towards Sri Rama. All put together, the Tyagaraja kritis list and Tyagaraja songs list are huge, having over 800 compositions in total.
