In the Spring of 1969 Chrysler beefed up the "Your Next Car" message using American former PGA Tour Professional Golfer Doug Sanders as spokesperson. Instead of the new fuselage styling as the focus, the message here was "performance." In 1970, Chrysler would produce TV-spots using three star athletes as "Your Next Car" pitchmen; Willie Mays of the San Francisco Giants, Daryle Lamonica of the Oakland Raiders, and Lance Alworth of the San Diego Chargers.
