The small village of Orchha (which means "Hidden Place") is entered by a gate crowned with a red Ganesh, Elephant God. Once one of the largest and most powerful kingdoms in Central India, Orchha is filled with remaining palaces and temples.
Forty Thousand people was lived inside the wall area of Jahangiri Mahal, a large sandstone palace surrounded by a algae filled moat, and a wall around the palace; over 3 kilometers/1.6 miles long. Very impressive but it is the Raj Mahal filled with frescoes that is incredible. Ceiling and other chambers were delicately painted; some with scenes from Ramayana, others showing daily life and court activities.
