German Chancellor Angela Merkel's centre-left rivals, the Social Democrats, have announced that their members have overwhelmingly voted to approve a new, grand coalition with her conservatives. It is a result which ends months of political uncertainty in Europe's economic powerhouse and gives a fourth term to its longtime leader.
