On August 19, 1994, U.S. President Bill Clinton halted the nation's three-decade open-door policy for Cuban refugees.
The Clinton Administration, hoping to head off a new international
crisis, on Friday (19/8) reversed a 30-year-old U.S. policy of
accepting all Cuban refugees. 527 Cubans arrived by small boat and
makeshift raft on Thursday.
