Lasers as a technology they act on the hair follicle and it is not a biased technology. it works across men and women in the same way. Only thing is men tend to have a thicker hair growth. So probably when they are doing laser they tend to have a little bit discomfort more compared to people whose hair is little bit finer. The advantage is hairs are more responsive when they are thick. So having a thick hair the laser hair reduction works much better and the reduction is faster. What laser does is it destroys the air permanently. Whenever we do lasers 70 to 80% of the thick hair gets destroyed permanently. another 20 to 30% of the hair that remains , they never die sometimes. They only become weak. So what happens is the hair follicles starts shrinking, they become finer and get in colour and growth rate starts slowing and when this happens it gives a more esthetic look for any body part. Men , the laser is done on the entire body. It is not specified to any body part. Commonly we do beard shaping when they have a very high beard line, say sometimes people have a beard line very high and the cheek is not seen. This gives a darker shade to the skin. So when this portion of the hair is reduced it will look really good. Sometimes people have very thick beard and they have bumps when they are shaved, in those situations it gives pigmentation. So to treat this we do laser air reduction, but here it is called as beard softening. We are not aiming at completely removing the beard but we are aiming at softening it so that it is less painful for them to shave, second is then you don’t get so much of rashes like before. In addition to that we do for the pinna, excessive hair on the ears. Any body hair from top to bottom is very safe, infact there are some cases pilonidal sinuses, we have to do laser hair reduction, in an intimate area like natal cleft. Here it is more than esthetic thing, it is medical thing. People get recurrent abscesses because of the pokiness of the hair and we tend to treat that. We need to treat that very effectively with laser. So be it men or women, laser is a very safe technology to reduce the hair and it is not that all the hairs are reduced permanently, some are going to stay back but majority of them go away with lasers.
