We’re going to be delving into some of the behind the scenes secrets of the Ryan Reynolds action-comedy hit Free Guy. The film, which is directed by Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy, follows Guy, an optimistic bank teller living in a dangerous and chaotic place known as Free City. After several strange occurrences, Guy soon learns that he is an NPC inside a video game, teaming up with programmer and player Molotov Girl, he must go on an adventure that’ll save the only world he ever knew from being shut down forever.

The film boasts a star-studded cast alongside Reynolds including Jodie Comer, LilRel Howery, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Taika Waititi. A lot went into making the blockbuster and Levy was clearly passionate in the director’s chair, making sure that film made good use of practical effects along with all the needed CGI. Levy and his crew also were able to hide plenty of Easter Eggs throughout the film, referencing some very popular franchises. After making waves on television in Killing Eve, Comer faced one of her biggest challenges as an actress yet, playing two very different personalities in the film, the virtual femme fatale Molotov Girl as well as the geeky programmer Millie.

Reynolds on the other hand, shed the snarky persona most audiences expect from him, and instead played a character who is far more optimistic than you might expect.
