A DC Amperemeter for higher currents (1A-10 A) can easily be made by bridging a uA (Micro Amperemeter) with a piece of (isolated) copper wire. Please note: this wire can get warm or hot, so keep distance from the shunt resistor to other electronics and prevent burn and don't use isolation material (plastic insulated wire) when the shunt resistor gets really hot. The principles are showed in the video. All kinds of DC Ampere ranges can be set by varying the value from the shunt resistor, say a piece of wire or a low value carbon film resistor, between, say, 2 Ohm and 100 Ohm (10 Watt or more Watt in hobby electronics). Always make the measurement/wiring "integrated" because even the resistance from the wiring to and from the uA meter (!) plays a role in the true DC Ampere measurement.
