We leave Boarolino and Lago di Gardo and travel to Chiusa via roads SR450, A22/E45.
The first leg was 165 km and 3 hours. It was an easy drive on good state roads and an Autostrada.
We stopped in Chiusa. It was a nice stop and had lunch there. We wandered around the narrow streets, past the river, walked through the towns squares and looked into a few of the charming shops.
Chiusa is located along the course of the river Isarco and historically is customs town. The town has most street names in both Italian and German. Chiusa is also known as Klausen. It sits at an elevation of 523m.
I climber up to the Catstle called Burg Branzoll but realised it was a private house and not open to the public. It was too hot (over 35c) to make the climb up to the Monastery di Sabina.
We headed 105 km to Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites. It took us 2 1/2 hours for this drive. The roads were of a high standard but were challenging with many scary sheer drops. The scenery was stunning. We drove the A22 SS49 and SS51.
We arrived in Cortina for our 4 night stay in the late evening and were greeted with a sun shower.
