Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. DJ Sharkey, DJ Stingray, MC Mystery Major & MC Fenton formed Rinse FM's "Million Dollar Team". MC Lucky had joined them on a one off basis as a guest MC. Mystery Major was an established Jungle Drum & Bass circuit MC, he was resident at Club Labyrnth. The Million Dollar Team were making a name for themselves and their talents were being discovered. DJ Stingray was also a resident at Club Labrynth, in Dalston (Hackney, London). Stingray is the younger brother of DJ Kenny Ken and released Drum & Bass tracks on his Mix & Blen' label and Task Series label: Stingray– Venom / Flite Control (Mix & Blen', 1997), Stingray – 16th Section / Dominance (Mix & Blen', 1999), Stingray – Annihilate / Minus Ten (Mix & Blen', 1999), Stingray – Acceptance / Vital Terror (Task Series, 2000), Stingray – Playtime / Dif'rent Stories (Task Series, 2000), Stingray – Nightmare / Soulsonic (Task Series, 2001), Stingray – Sensor / Drop It (Task Series, 2002), Stingray vs. Subflow – Centre Core / Outer Planet (Task Series, 2002).
DJ Sharkey also played UK Garage in late 1997 on Rinse FM under the alias name DJ A Plus, with the likes of DJ Slimzee, MC Paco and MC Mega.
In 1996, Jungle music productions, raves and pirate radio stations had thrived in London and other regions of the UK (Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Leicester).
Rinse FM had recently changed dial from 97.6 to 91.8 FM. Things on the station had begun to take off. Rinse was a hub for Jungle Drum & Bass crews and collectives, showcasing talent from all parts of London with a epic lineup of DJs, producers and MCs.
