Grant Shapps has been appointed Home Secretary after Suella Braverman's resignation, which was accompanied by a withering exit letter aimed squarely at Liz Truss.
The Prime Minister offered Mr Shapps, a prominent backer of Rishi Sunak, the role after Ms Braverman was sacked for sharing confidential information from her personal email account.
The move will be seen as an olive branch to her opponents on the Conservative backbenches, who have called for her to appoint a Cabinet that is more representative of the wider Tory party.
