Speaking on French radio this week Mrs Macron (pictured far right), 64, insisted on walking alongside her husband Emmanuel (far left), 40, instead of behind him - as is tradition. People mocked her on social media, comparing her to Marie Antoinette - the last Queen of France before the French Revolution. But the criticism does not appear to have bothered her, as she greeted Emine Erdogan (centre right), 62, at the Elysee ahead of their husbands' meeting. The pair were photographed beaming on the steps of the palace just before Macron and Erdogan's joint press conference. During talks with President Emmanuel Macron today, Recep Tayyip Erdogan (centre left) said Turkey 'won't wait forever' when it comes to the EU.
