(26 Nov 2017) Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem on Sunday.
Klimkin toured the Hall of Names and laid a wreath inside the Hall of Remembrance.
He also wrote in the guest book that "I've experienced a heartbreaking walk through one of the darkest chapters of our common history".
In 1941, when Ukraine's capital Kiev was under Nazi occupation, SS troops and local collaborators killed nearly 34,000 Jews in 48 hours at Babi Yar, a ravine located in the city.
During his official visit to Israel on Sunday and Monday, Klimkin is scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Klimkin was also expected to meet Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman, as well as other ministers, leaders, and deputies in the Knesset.
