Rasbora vulcanus is a scaly rasbora species originated from West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is first collected in the foothill of volcanic mountain, hence the name vulcanus is used. It has red-orange coloration on male while female tend to be pale in color.

Habitat: Rasbora vulcanus lives in clear river stream in the mountainous area where it often found hiding in dense planted area.

Characteristic: Rasbora vulcanus is a schooling fish that need to be kept in groups of at least 10 individuals. Tank with dense plants, rocks and driftwood is highly suggested since it will provide it some places for hiding. It tends to be quite nervous when there is a change in water parameter.

Diet: It will accept high grade pellet but live tubifex in alternate date will be good as variation.

Suitable tank mates: Tetras, Corydoras, Chocolate gourami and other peaceful small rasbora
Unsuitable tank mates: Malawi cichlids, Arowanas, Tiger fish and other aggressive fish.
