I do not recommend making masks at all. Just purchase a mask from your CDC approved supplier.
DIY face mask N95 shaped, easy sew possibly .3 micron filter respirator, volunteer for hospitals, pattern make DOES NOT CONTAIN FIBERGLASS See below
All materials featured were sourced from my local Walmart.
**I now how a source where you can buy filter fabric by the yard. See their site for details.**

I used the highest filtering style of hvac filters that they had *at my Walmart*. I used the Filtrete Advanced Allergen coded Purple because it says on the packaging that it filters viruses, (it says it has a level of 1500, but if you can find higher, go for it!!) These filters are not manufactured or marketed for mask use. Do not use a fiberglass filter. Get a pleated filter rated 1500 or above. The higher the better. Check with the manufacturer about contents of filter and if you should use it for a mask.
Seamsters are needed to make and donate masks for local hospitals. This will show you a hack for harvesting a filter fabric that filters down to .3 microns, supposedly similar to the N95 respirator fabric. (I am not a scientist or medical personnel and do not clear any of this for use as a mask.) You can add another layer of cotton or a creative binding if you want to personalize the mask. You can also use my template (below) and sewing steps in the video to make a 2 layer tightly woven cotton mask.
See your local hospital for information on their mask requirements. I do not claim that a mask will help guard against viruses, but the filter says it blocks viruses in broad, general terms. I do not give medical advice or advise that people wear masks. Definitely get cleanliness protocol/info from them to follow as you make them. Clean environment, wearing a mask, clean hands, etc. Remember to low temp hot glue a line over the seams/ stitch holes.

There is a pattern/template there. I cut the mask on a grid of 1x1" squares, so you should be able to get a pretty good idea. You can screenshot, print, then scale on a 1x1" grid. (approx 5x7) You may need to scale to size. Experiment with muslin first, then dive into the filter fabric if you like, or two layers of tightly woven cotton.
Please excuse how long and talkative this video is. I wanted to do a quick, 4 min tutorial with few words, but I knew people would want details, (I'm still getting questions anyway.) Also, to upload a video like this is pretty tricky. I want to help if I can, but also safety is important. I knew I needed the video to be **99% disclaimers** in order to be safe. That adds a lot of length to the video! Watch it on 2x speed if you want to save time.
Masks do not prevent COVID-19. Wash your hands, keep your distance, don't touch your face. Use social distancing. Follow your local guidelines and the CDC guidelines: [ Ссылка ]
Also, according to FTC, you can see that no product can cure or prevent COVID-19: [ Ссылка ]

What are these plastics? They are the most common plastics in our society. They are used for lab equipment and drinking straws, etc. Polypropylene is the same plastic used in N95 masks.

According to Filtrete in a phone conversation, they don’t spray these with any type of chemicals.
Fiberglass is made of glass and resin:

Weigh this out. Ask your local hospital what they want the masks to be made of, the cleaning process, the pattern etc. We need to give them what they need.
