The Alipore Central Jail, also known as Presidency Correctional Home, opened in 1864is a prison in Alipore, Kolkata, where political prisoners were kept under British rule, among them Subhas Chandra Bose. It is a Jail with 2000 capacity. It shut down on FEB 2019. This Jail has now turned into a museum.The museum is dedicated to the countless freedom fighters who have laid down their lives in the jail to secure the country's freedom from British rule.
The museum is opened to all From Tuesday to Sunday.
Monday it remains closed.
