STORYLINE
A maze of narrow stone alleyways in Aleppo's old quarter leads to the entrance of a nursing home that now houses what residents say is the only remaining Christian community in the rebel held part of the city.
Seven residents; four elderly women ranging in age from their late seventies to their nineties, a couple and a single man, all live here, stranded by the war.
Nestled just below the monumental Citadel of Aleppo, behind an iron-wrought gate that opens into a beautiful courtyard with lemon trees and vine pergola, the imposing stone building appears far removed from the realities of the world outside.
The apparent peace of the courtyard, where residents sit and sip tea, is regularly punctuated by the thud of explosions outside.
The home is close to the frontline where rebels and forces loyal to President Assad are fighting for control of the city.
The street is regularly exposed to sniper fire, residents say. Large sheets have been hung on both sides of the entrance to shield people from the view of snipers.
Michel Obejeh is a 53 year old electrician who takes care of this community, helped by his wife, Salpi, and another resident, called Johnny Marzani.
He says he is not afraid.
Obejeh is a devout Catholic and believes his destiny is in God's hands.
He has been living here for more than a year after his home in Midan neighbourhood was destroyed by bombing.
Obejeh said he could have moved to the Syrian government held part of the city, but decided to stay here to help the residents.
Obejeh explained that, although they have been living without electricity for more than a year, they have water and receive food supplies from the local people.
