The Humbug Scrub Wildlife Sanctuary
Humbug Scrub Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Adelaide Plains bushland, approximately 50 kms North East of Adelaide in the Mount Lofty Ranges. The Sanctuary can be found approximately 3km's past the entrance to the Para Wirra Conservation Park. The nearest town is One Tree Hill.
Situated in natural bush setting, the Sanctuary was established by Thomas Bellchambers in 1905.
The Sanctuary is committed to the preservation of our native flora and fauna. Native Kangaroos and Emus roam freely throughout the park, giving visitors opportunities to hand feed these wonderful creatures.
Sit under a shady tree and watch Peacocks, Cape Barren Geese, sulphur-crested Cockatoos, and a variety of other birds in their natural habitat.
Learn more about the History of Humbug Scrub Wildlife Sanctuary by visiting Tom's Cottage, or just take a calming stroll along many walking paths that meander past scenic lakes and natural bushland.
Humbug Scrub Wildlife Sanctuary is a private sanctuary, staffed by volunteers and is the oldest private Sanctuary in South Australia. The Sanctuary is a registered charity and all donations are tax deductible.
