Deer jerky is a a fantastic treat. It's also a great snack to have along on your outdoor adventures. After getting a dehydrator for Christmas, we spent several months working on perfecting methods to use it to dry our jerky. We've settled on this method and recipe as not only most effective, but the most tasty one we've tried to date.

For this video we used a frozen roast found in the bottom of our freezer from a tough old buck. While preparing tougher cuts as jerky is a great way to make those a bit more palatable, after trying this recipe you may be tempted to use some of your better cuts as well! It's really good! But don't worry. Venison isn't the only meat you can use to make this jerky. Any lean cuts of meat will work, and we're sure these jerky making tips will help you dry some great eating to have on that next hike, fishing trip, or just as excellent snacks to have around the house!
