You are probably going to be using your professional headshots as a profile picture on LinkedIn, Facebook, and on your website.
All of those places, you have very little real estate to make an impression. That is one of the many reasons your professional headshot should be on a solid background. I prefer white, gray, or black.
There are plenty of other reasons to go solid color for headshots as well.
