The town of Milton is in a stand-off with the state government, after voters rejected a plan that would have expanded zoning for multifamily housing to comply with the MBTA Communities Act. Could other cities and towns follow suit? And how did housing in the state get so unaffordable that the law – which aims to ramp up production of housing in Massachusetts – was necessary in the first place?
