Leptoceratops (gr. "small horned face") is a genus represented by a single species of leptoceratopsid ceratopsian dinosaur, which lived at the end of the Cretaceous period, approximately 70 to 68 million years ago, in the Maastrichtian, in what is now North America. . The name comes from the ancient Greek 'lepto-/λεπτο-' meaning 'small', 'insignificant', 'thin', 'lean' or 'poor', 'cerat-/κερατ-' 'horn' and '-ops/ ωψ' 'face'. It shared the territory with other much larger ceratopsians such as Triceratops and Torosaurus. Its remains have been found throughout the American West, in the Scollard Formation of Alberta, Canada, and in the Lance Formation of Wyoming in the United States.
