Another video of old school muscle cars going head to head in 1/4 mile battle. The cars are competing in the Pure Stock Drags and modifications are very limited (see rules below).
In one lane is a 1971 Buick GS455 Stage 1 which is extremely rare as only 882 were built. The GS (Grand Sport) is powered by Buick's 455 Cubic Inch (7.4 Liter) Stage 1 V8 which was rated at 345 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque due to a drop in compression ration which occurred in 1971. 1970 GSX Stage 1's were rated at 360 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.
In the other lane is another iconic muscle car, the 1969 Road Runner 440 6 BBL or Six Pack in Dodge terms. 1969 is the first year that Plymouth put three (3) two (2) barrel carburetors on their 440 motor. The 440 6 BBL was rated at 390 Horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque, and was known to give 426 Hemi's a run for their money on the street when both are stock. In 1969, the 440 6 BBL was identified by an M code in the VIN. The M code changed to a V - Code in 1970 and 1971 440 6 BBL cars. Only 1412 M Code Road Runners were made in 1969.
The Road Runner is equipped with 4 speed manual transmission, and the transmission in the Buick Stage 1 is the Turbo 400 automatic. So WHO WINs?
Comment below and tell us what you think and which car you'd rather own after watching the video...
