Towards the end of 2023 I purchased the NMK948 watch case. Its a beautiful piece of work which mimics the shape of the Seiko SKX, but it is designed to hold the Miyota 9105 and 9S05 movements. This makes it far more slender than the original Seiko SKX. I also ordered the limited edition Andoandoando ‘Spokes’ dial as it was the only Miyota 9 Series compatible dial in Namoki’s store at the time. This video give a report on what the build process was like, to obstacles I encountered and the idiotic mistakes that I made and I how I overcame these in order to build one of my favourite watches yet.
A WORD OF ADVICE: This case and the Miyota 9015 are NOT for beginners. Here are a few reasons:
- This is a FULL build and requires installation of the crystal and its gasket, the bezel and click spring and the bezel insert.
- There are not many dials made to fit into this case AS WELL AS to fit the 9015 movement. As a result you have to remove the feet off of an 8015 dial and used dial dots to attach a dial to the movement. This is a fiddly process.
- The movement holder used for the 9015 movement and this case is a cheaper plastic version. While the final build is stable enough, it makes installation a little more tricky than the super stable Seiko NH35 shroud.
