Amazon's posted this notice on its website for some customers that deliveries may take longer than 2 days. The delivery problems are not nationwide, at least not right now. We all can understand there are going to be delays sometimes but if you're paying $120 a year for Amazon Prime, mainly for the free 2-day shipping you probably think you should be compensated for orders that take longer.
The easiest way is to search for Amazon Delayed Delivery. If your package is delayed, you can choose to chat with Amazon through a bot. It'll ask about the items you've ordered and, in a minute or two, you'll be connected to an Amazon employee who will track your package and find out what's wrong. They might even contact the delivery driver and try to speed things up.
If you are polite and understanding, Amazon may give you some credit on the next order you make. It's usually $5 but could be more if the delay is longer than 48 hours. I've heard of Prime customers getting an additional month added to their Prime subscription when they reported a delay. Amazon isn't obligated to give you a credit but if you go about it in a nice way, you may get an extra $5 in your account.
