We went directly to the top of the design food chain at General Motors, to the big boss, Ed Welburn, for a few words on the most powerful Chevrolet Corvette in its history.
The Z06 is lower, wider, and built for the racetrack, sporting a big, honking 625-horsepower supercharged V-8 and a seven-speed transmission with automatic rev matching. While waiting for my own hot laps when the snow melts (heavy sigh), I asked Ed to tell us what it took to transform the look of the seventh-generation Corvette into a Z06.
