"Thank you very much Justin. Very happy indeed that we could meet. Thank you for your presence during the Canadian and the international ceremony (in Normandy). Today's discussions on Africa and Ukraine show the great convergence between our two countries, and I am delighted that we will be able to continue these conversations this afternoon and tomorrow and that we will meet during the peace conference on Ukraine (in Switzerland this weekend) . Of course, I'll be in the region in July, both with you at the NATO summit, and then on a bilateral visit. And I'm also looking forward to coming to Canada in July, just after the NATO summit.

“We also talked, of course, about the Middle East and all the work we have to do there”.
STORYLINE:
Canada and France's leaders Justin Trudeau and Emmanuel Macron met on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Borgo Egnazia on Thursday.
Trudeau thanked Macron for his leadership.
Macron thanked Trudeau for his presence at D-Day commemorations in Normandy on the 6th of June, adding talks between them on Africa and Ukraine earlier in the day showed "great convergence between our two countries."
Macron said he looked forward to engaging with Trudeau at the Ukraine peace conference in Switzerland and the NATO summit, and during a planned visit to Canada in July.
