In this video we park the car and Elgol on the Isle of Skye and head on the coastal path north towards the stunning Loch Coruisk nestled between in the infamous Cuillin Hills. The path towards Camasunary Bay is varied with some well trodden parts and other more challenging terrain. We were spoilt with the weather which resulted in some spectacular views of the Cuillins and the small isles of Eigg, Muck and Rum as well as Soay. On arrival at Camasunary Bay we take a look around the new Bothy, enjoy a cold dip in the main estuary and pitched our tent for a thoroughly enjoyable wild camp.
Day 2 sees us take solace with a porridge on the beach, after being eaten alive by midges putting the tent away and make our way onwards around the cove to Loch Coruisk via THE BAD STEP (We had read about the bad step and watched a couple of YouTube videos to weigh it up, but received mixed reviews from a variety of skill levels and experience. All I would say on the bad step is that as long as it isn’t wet and slippy you should be fine, and if you really don’t like the look of it… Hannah swam round without any issues!)
Once past the bad step, you are treated to a Caribbeanesque beach and only a short walk from the wonders of Loch Coruisk. We had to get in and have a swim which I would highly recommend! Once dry we make our way over to the jetty and return back to Elgol via Misty Isle Boat Trips.
