do you want to train to become a #pilatesinstructor , #lagree instructor, or #xformer instructor but don’t know which route to take?
here’s some information to help you out from my experiences as a certified Lagree and Xformer instructor teaching on a Pilates Reformer, Megaformer, and Xformer
Pilates:
- cost of training is more on the expensive side (average $4,000 and up)
- typically requires more money and time after training to meet the requirements in order to test out (become certified)
- months on learning, studying, and practicing
- more comprehensive in regards to anatomy, course material, and overall training
- you may be able to use this certification to apply to an Xformer studio (without having to certify all over again
Lagree:
- cost of training is anywhere around $1,700 - $2,499
- additional level 2 certification is available
- it’s typically a 3-day in person course where you’ll learn exercise names and their spring load, modifications, intensification, variations, proper form, routine formulation, and more
- you may be able to use this certification to apply at Lagree studios
- you are not permitted to teach at any “copycat” studios (typically any studio that resembles Lagree Fitness and its megaformer - Xformer studios, BodyRok, Solid Core)
- if you wanted to teach Pilates or at a Pilates studio, you might get lucky to be given that opportunity, but most likely you’d need a Pilates certification to do so
Xformer:
- cost of training is typically cheaper than Lagree, but average i hear is around $1,100)
- additional level 2 certification is available depending on who the master trainer is
- it’s typically a 3-day in person course where you’ll learn exercise names and their spring load, modifications, intensification, variations, proper form, routine formulation, and more (depending on the master trainer)
- you may be able to use this certification to apply at Xformer studios
- you may be asked to not work at other studios, but this is dependent upon each studio
- if you wanted to teach Pilates or at a Pilates studio, you might get lucky to be given that opportunity, but most likely you’d need a Pilates certification to do so
Note: if your studio is looking for an Xformer Master training i provide Level 1 and Level 2 training. Message me for more information and you can visit www.exercisestrengthcore.com
Some questions to ask beforehand:
- is the studio the training is taking place at hiring
- what is the pay range (research the market rate in your area)
- the name of the master trainer
- what will the training consist of
- will i be able to work at other studios and with other disciplines
- are there any discounts applicable for the cost of training
- ask the studio(s) you want to to work for if they require you to work a specific number of days and times (especially the weekend)
- ask about benefits and whether you’ll be a W2 or 1099 employee
Important:
- really think where you’re wanting to go long-term with the certification you choose
- shop around for the best prices
- ask if the studio you want to work for allows recording inside the studio, and if so, are there any requirements or restrictions if doing so
- take classes at different studios offering different disciplines to see which tou like best and to see how the work environment is (instructors and business)
- get everything in writing whether that’s text or email ( #papertrail is important‼️)
