Workshop for Early Career Historians: 'Applying and Interviewing for your First History Lectureship'. Organised and hosted by the Royal Historical Society, UK.
A 2 part, 2-hr guest speaker webinar looking to provide a practical guide to attendees who’ll likely have limited experience of making an application for a permanent lectureship in History.
The panellists, Professor Elaine Chalus (University of Liverpool), Professor Julian Wright (University of Northumbria) and Dr Matthew Johnson (Durham University) -- along with Professor Emma Griffin (UEA and RHS President) as chair -- bring considerable experience of hiring academic staff; of understanding the process from the perspective of a department / faculty (and esp. the Head of Dept); of reading applications and shortlisting; and interviewing on the day.
This Royal Historical Society workshop aims to convey some of our guests experience and insights, giving attendees advice and tips from the panellists' perspective and recommendations of approach for applications for History lectureships.
