Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori says practical education and hands-on learning are solutions to Nigeria's over dependence on foreign goods because the system teaches and empowers people to produce goods for local consumption and exports that would lead to national development.
The governor stated this during the inspection of projects at University of Delta, Agbor, Owa-Alero campus in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state.
Oborevwori who was represented by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme highlighted that Nigeria and other developing nations could rely less on imported goods if they embraced technical education to develop indigenous technology for improved productivity.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done by the contractor at the inspected Faculty of Environmental Studies, Lecture theatres ,Engineering Workshops and internal roads with drain's while commending the immediate past administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for initiating the projects.
Th Governor also inspected a newly installed Solar farm at the Mother and Child Hospital Owa-Alero where the Chief Medical Director briefed him about the alternative power supply for the hospital to complement the national grid.
The Governor further inspected the newly constructed 11.3km Ute-Okpu - Ute-Elugu Road in Ika North-East Local Government Area of the State where the Commissioner for works (Rural Roads), Charles Aniagwu briefed the governor on the road contract specifications.
Quest Charles Kosipre reports that also revealed that these projects are expected to be Inaugurated in the next two weeks.
