Once again I visit the awesome The Pier First Class lounge. I didn't have that much to eat since I had so much on my flight from New York, but I did try out the restaurant again. The scallops were delicious. The dan dan mian was smothered with sauce and rather difficult to swallow. I was so happy they offered Cathay Delight, which is a wonderfully refreshing drink. The Pier has everything you need to refresh and relax for a layover. The sleeping booths had excellent noise isolation and views. I wasn't sure if I should sleep or airplane spot. The flight was delayed by 50 minutes but otherwise service was smooth and excellent. I was very tired from the jet lag so I only ordered water much to the disappointment of the flight attendant who was a bit surprised I didn't order champagne or wine.
I had the Chinese meal with a very unique soup. It was quite good and nicely presented. The main course tasted rather generic, but dessert was delicious. Hard to mess up ice cream.
Otherwise great views on takeoff and landing, with night time views of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Beijing.
