Heinrich Himmler: The Second Most Powerful Man in Nazi Germany

Responsible for the deaths of millions, a race supremacist with a mad vision of extermination and eugenics, Heinrich Himmler is rightfully remembered as one of the worst human beings in recorded history. Welcome to Bizarre History, today we’ll be taking a deep dive into Adolf Hitlers most dangerous lieutenant, Heinrich Himmler. Despite the clear appetite and capacity for monstrosity, Himmler’s beginning is somewhat fascinating for how ordinary it was in vision and mind.

He was reported and considered to be a quiet and studious type, keeping to himself somewhat socially and conversationally awkward. He was not considered to have been raised in a pointedly antisemitic household as a child. It should be stated in 1920’s Germany when Himmler was at University, antisemitism was rife with gentile students actively avoiding Jewish classmates. Yet Himmler’s University time shows him a devout catholic, keeping the company of Jews at leisure, irrespective of his feelings.
